Short answer
Gamdom in Western Australia comes down to local rules and one line in Gamdom's own terms: Australia is on the list of countries where Gamdom does not offer services. Online gambling is regulated federally, so Western Australian rules cover the venue side: one casino, no pokies in pubs or clubs, an A$10 bet cap and casino tax.

Gamdom in Western Australia: Which Rules Apply
Two layers of law sit on top of each other. Online casino services, such as online pokies, roulette and blackjack, fall under the federal Interactive Gambling Act 2001, which applies in every state and is aimed at providers rather than players. That is why this page is about the local features: land-based venues, limits and tax. The state rules are made and enforced by the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia, which regulates casino gaming, community gaming such as raffles and bingo, and wagering, with the stated aim of minimising gambling harm.

The main state laws are the Casino Control Act 1984 and the Casino (Burswood Island) Agreement Act 1985. After the Perth Casino Royal Commission reported in March 2022, the state tightened the rules twice. The Gambling Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (Royal Assent 28 November 2024) brought higher penalties, and a third round of reform is under way with no start date published.
Crown Perth: The Only Casino in Western Australia
If you are searching for casinos in Western Australia, the list has one name. Crown Perth, formerly Burswood Island Resort, sits at Burswood in Perth and has been open since 30 December 1985. The licensee is Burswood Nominees Ltd. The figures below are from the Commission's 2024-25 annual report and were counted on 30 June 2025.
The licence has a history. The Royal Commission found Crown Perth unsuitable in March 2022, an Independent Monitor oversaw its remediation until 30 April 2025, and in 2025 the Commission found it suitable again, with continued scrutiny. Visitors must be at least 18, and the casino checks ID at the door.
Pokies Venues in Western Australia: Casino Only
Western Australia is the one state where you will not find a pokie in the local pub or club. The Commission's policy prohibits poker machines, including fruit machines and similar, across the state.
One location: electronic gaming machines are allowed only at Crown Perth. The number of venues with pokies outside the casino is zero.
No classic pokie features: casino machines must not show spinning reels, must not have a handle, and must include some player interaction.
Minimum return: each machine must return at least 90% to players over time, a floor set in the Commission's policy effective 29 May 2024.
A ceiling on size: the approved maximum is 2,500 machines and 350 tables, and the casino was well under both at 30 June 2025.
Online games such as those at Gamdom are a separate matter and sit under federal law, as explained above.
Bet Limits and Carded Play at Crown Perth
Most of the harm-minimisation rules came out of the Royal Commission and apply to the casino floor. Three dates matter.
- 1 July 2023
A maximum bet of A$10 a spin comes into force for machines on the main gaming floor.
- 1 December 2025
Carded play becomes mandatory on every machine. The personal card holds time and loss limits, with a cap of 12 hours a day and 28 hours a week and a compulsory break every 3 hours. Players can lower limits at once, while an increase takes effect only after a 7-day cooling-off. Monthly statements and on-screen tracking are part of the package.
- 1 December 2026
A fully automated cut-off when a limit is hit is scheduled to be required. Until then a manual solution is the interim measure.
The sources do not detail ticket-in rules, so there is no claim here that cash is banned.
Gambling Tax in Western Australia
For a player the answer is short: winnings are not taxed as income, unless gambling is run as a business, according to the Australian Taxation Office. The tax falls on operators.
| Activity | Rate | Paid by |
|---|---|---|
| Casino machines | 20% | Casino |
| Casino tables | 18% | Casino |
| International business | 11% | Casino |
| Wagering | 15% | Operator |
| Player winnings | None | Nobody |

The casino rates come from the state agreement schedule (as at its 7 December 2024 compilation) and apply to casino taxable revenue, paid monthly to the State Treasurer within 8 days of month end. In 2024-25 casino taxable revenue was about A$551 million and casino tax about A$62.9 million. The wagering figure is the point of consumption tax, 15% of net wagering revenue from bets by Western Australian customers, in force since 1 January 2019 with a A$150,000 annual tax-free threshold and 30% of receipts going to the racing industry.
Gamdom's Own Position on Australia
Gamdom's terms and conditions say that at this time it does not offer services to individuals located in or residents of a list of countries, and Australia is one of them. The terms add that access from those places can lead to an account being restricted. In practice, this page explains Gamdom and local rules. It is not a registration route and does not describe how to claim the 15% boost.

How to Read Gamdom's Terms for Your Location
The quickest check is reading one paragraph. Four steps:
Open the terms and conditions
They are linked in the footer of gamdom.com. If the site will not load, the status page explains the usual error messages.
Find the list of countries
It sits in the section on eligibility and starts with the words that Gamdom does not offer services to people located in or residents of the places named. Australia is on it, along with other countries.
Read what it says about access
Section 3.4 explains that access from the listed places can lead to restrictions on the account.
Compare it with where you live
If you are in Western Australia, the licensed local options are the ones covered above: Crown Perth, the TAB and Lotterywest. Questions about the terms themselves go to Gamdom's live chat.
Checklist Before You Start
Run through these first.
- Check the country rule.
Read Gamdom's terms for yourself. A page like this one explains them, and the terms are the source.
- Confirm you are 18 or over.
Eighteen is the minimum gambling age, and Crown Perth checks ID on entry.
- Know your currency.
Gamdom has no AUD wallet and quotes US$ and crypto. Venue limits in Western Australia are in A$.
- Set limits first.
At Crown Perth the card holds them. Gamdom offers deposit limits, loss and wager limits, session reminders and self-exclusion of 1, 5 or 8 days in Settings.
- Keep the tax facts straight.
Winnings are not income for ordinary players, so there is nothing to declare on a win. Operators carry the tax.
- Know where help is.

BetStop

Gamdom's own exclusion tools are separate, and its terms describe a self-exclusion as binding.
If Gamdom Did Not Work for You
Two situations come up: a page that will not open and a restricted account.
Account restricted. Gamdom's terms allow it for accounts opened from places on its country list. Ask live chat, open 24/7, what the restriction means for the balance. Terms allow one account per person, so opening another does not fix anything.
Page will not open. Check the status page for what each error message means before assuming the fault is yours. The free spins guide and the about page show how rules and sources work.
If the real issue is that gambling has become a problem, skip the troubleshooting and call 1800 858 858.
